Description

APCC – Associação de Paralisia Cerebral de Coimbra is a non-profit rehabilitation, education, training, and counseling organization established in 1975 to promote the social inclusion of people at a disadvantage, with a focus on people with disabilities to support their inclusion, particularly Cerebral Palsy.

APCC has a wide staff of professionals with different qualifications (330 people such as medical doctors, nurses, teachers, psychologists, social workers, therapists, trainers, management, and care assistants, between others) and network from around Europe. During 40 years of activity, became part of different networks at local, national and international level.

APCC is a strong partner in (re) habilitation, training and integration with a large reputation in developing methods, including the supports needed for the social integration and empowerment of people with disabilities and their families.

APCC has a qualified and recognized work in the areas of Medical Rehabilitation and functional education, Vocational & Educational Training, Social-Professional Integration & Job Coaching , School, Toy Library / Resource Centre,  Music, Drama, Painting & Arts, Horse Riding School specialized in Hipotherapy , Hydrotherapy, Snoozlen,  Sports, Outdoor Adventure Education, 3 Residential Units, , Home support services , Occupational Activities and a large Transport fleet.

The work model approach and methodology through multidisciplinary teams  it has as main the objective to achieve the quality of life in the whole life cycle perspective according to the perspective of World Health Organisation – WHOQOL.

The geographical scope of intervention is all the Region Centre of Portugal and belongs to the National Federation of Cerebral Palsy.

Certified with ISO 9001, APCC is keen on European projects in the design and management, carrying out research activities and programmes, implementing social innovation, studies and assessments. Its targeted clients are disabled people and families whenever they are aiming in obtaining services with high quality and integrity.

Stakeholders

The stakeholder forum is currently based on professionals from Universities who has a leading role in the departments of social work ( Degree , Master Degree and PhD). The composition could be extended according to the project phases.
